MICHAEL EAVES

Michael Eaves currently serves as Director of Security at The Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail in Williamsburg, most recently as Time computation Supervisor Sr. Court & Legal Services, and Chief Deputy for the Newport News Sheriff's Office. 

He started his career in corrections /law enforcement over 29 years ago working for the Newport News Sheriff’s Office.  Later, he moved on to the Hampton University Police Department where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant.  Michael returned to the Corrections Field with the Hampton Sheriff’s Office where he served as a supervisor in several capacities, to include Security Commander, Court Services Commander, and Operations Commander  

In Hampton, he attained the rank of Captain, helping the department achieve the goal of accreditation with three agencies.  Michael also passed a national certification exam to become a Certified Jail Manager, showing detailed knowledge in all aspects of the correctional field.   

Michael is a current Board member with the Virginia Correctional Association (VCA), a member of the American Correctional Association (ACA), and the American Jail Association (AJA).  Michael is married to his lovely wife, Laurie and has four children; Michelle, Tony, Gabriel, and Nicholas.
