W. P. Rogers
W. P. Rogers is the Assistant
Deputy Director for the Division of Operations, Department
of Corrections, responsible for coordinating the activities
of the three regions to ensure consistent and timely
implementation of policy, procedures and practices. In this
position since August 2006, Mr. Rogers supervises the
emergency preparedness, homeland security, strike force,
canine, and gang management programs. He also supervises
environmental services, the agricultural program, mental
health services, food services, and coordinates new
construction. Prior to that from 1990-2006, he was
Regional Director in the Department’s Central Region.
Mr. Rogers began his career
in the corrections system as Recreation Supervisor at
Southampton Correctional Center in 1970. He later served
as superintendent of Tidewater Correctional Unit, Assistant
Warden at Bland and Powhatan Correctional Centers, Warden at
Deep Meadow and at Powhatan Correctional Centers, and
Regional Administrator in the Northern Region.
Mr. Rogers is a graduate of
East Carolina University. |
