Edward W. Murray
Edward W. Murray, Deputy
Director for Institutions for the Virginia Department of
Juvenile Justice and a graduate of Norfolk State University,
began his criminal justice career in 1967 as a Children's
Supervisor at the Norfolk Detention Home. In 1973, Ed
became the Assistant Warden at the State Penitentiary and
served as Warden of both Staunton and Deep Meadow
Correctional Centers.
In 1982, Ed was appointed Deputy Director for Youth Services
and served in the capacity until 1985 when he became the
Deputy Director of Adult Services. The following year,
he was appointed the Director of the Department of
Corrections and served in that capacity for eight years.
Ed joined the Department of
Juvenile Justice as the Regional Administrator for the
Eastern Region in 1994 and subsequently transferred to the
position of Chief of Operations for Institutions. He
assumed his current position in July 1995. A Norfolk
native, he currently lives in Richmond. |
