Kellie Honeycutt
Hello,
My name is Kellie Honeycutt.
I am married and have 2 children, I am currently employed by
Coffeewood Correctional Center and effective June 1st
,I will be the secretary of the VCCA.
My career began in 1994, fresh from graduating from Radford
University with a degree in Criminal Justice. I started at
Staunton Correctional Center where I worked for about 1 ½
years. I then, at the request of White Post, laterally
transferred to White post Unit 7. I worked there until 2002
when I was promoted to Probation & parole Officer when the
position was converted from Camp 7 to Detention and
Diversion. I remained there until 2002. I then resigned
the position to return to school and move to Michigan. It
was a great time in my career to attend Cosmetology School.
I did this and graduated with honors and a license to cut
hair.
In 2004, I returned to state service with the VA Dept. of
Social Services-Child Support Enforcement. I worked with
them for 4 years and resigned that position to be closer to
home and I was expecting a child and having medical
difficulties. I worked momentarily for the City of
Waynesboro for a grant funded position. My job was
completely funded by grants and with the economy struggling,
my grand was not re-issued.
It was then I applied, and became part of, the Coffeewood
family. As a counselor here, I am the job PAR, I teach the
in-service class for staff, train new counselors, back up
the grievance coordinator, I am the COMPAS Coach, as well as
the regular counselor duties. I also have been elected to
serve as the VCCA Secretary as the current one is vacating
the position.
I am in my late 11th
or early 12th year of DOC service and hope to
retire from the Department. |
